Late Shahjehan S. Karim’s legacy remembered

The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) commemorated the birthday of its Late Founder President Shahjehan S. Karim on September 22, 2020. This day also marks the 25th anniversary of IoBM. Mr. Talib Karim, President and Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director along with the management, faculty, and staff presented tributes to late Shahjehan S. Karim’s life, career, and his vision of excellence in imparting quality higher education in Pakistan. The speakers shared the values and principles as followed by the late Founder President that are cherished and pursued in letter and spirit by the IoBM family.

Speakers included Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Rector IoBM; Dr. Shahida Wizarat, Dean CESD; Dr. Fareeda Ibad, Associate Professor & Senior Fellow, SSK Academic Writing Center; Dr. Samra Javed, HoD ORIC and EMEC; Mr. Ejaz Wasay, HoD Media Studies and Sr. Fellow Marketing; Mr. Malik Barolia, Manager Salary and Compensation; Mr. Javed Ahmed, Senior Fellow, Innovation and Strategy; Mr. Nabhan Karim, HoD Media Productions; Mr. Khalid Bin Muhammad; Assistant Professor, CCSIS; Mr. Farooq Ahmed, Secretary to late Founder President and current President, and Mr. Arif Sheikh, Senior Maintenance Officer.

The speakers presented glowing tributes in memory of the late Founder President, Shahjehan S. Karim. They shared the late Founder President’s traits as a successful leader who served Pakistan in the civil services and later dedicated his life in establishing and building IoBM as a premier business school of Pakistan. The speakers touched upon the values and principles that the late Founder President followed and how his family and the IoBM family is pursuing the same ideals. During their speeches, the speakers shared such examples and incidents from the late Founder President’s life that highlighted his commitment to excellence, vision for a brighter Pakistan, and the dedication to continue working for IoBM until his last breath.

IoBM hosts its biggest Open Day

As many as 18 schools and colleges visited the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) to attend its Open Day Carnival 2020. It was held on Thursday, February 13, 2020. The objective of this event was to create awareness for IoBM’s undergraduate programs for prospective students. It was attended by over 550 students from schools and colleges across Karachi. From IoBM, Mr. Talib Karim, President; Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director; Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Rector; Dr. Samra Javed, HoD, Entrepreneurship and Management Excellence Center and Advisor to the Office of President along with Deans, HoDs, faculty, staff and members of IoBM student societies were present.

Prospective students along with their teachers and student counselors attending this Open Day interacted with IoBM’s management and faculty members. Students from schools and colleges attended this Open Day in several batches based on their pre-determined timeslots. The visitors praised IoBM’s state-of-the-art campus and facilities during a comprehensive campus tour. The representatives of the visiting schools and colleges acknowledged the efforts of IoBM’s management in providing quality higher education.

The main activity was held at IoBM’s convocation area where IoBM’s faculty members representing 17 undergraduate programs interacted with visiting students to guide them about their career prospects. IoBM has been offering undergraduate degree programs in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, Media Studies; Economics, Media and International Relations, Actuarial Science and Risk Management, Electrical Engineering, Accounting and Finance, Entrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship, Industrial Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management among many others.

IoBM Career Fair attracts scores of students

As many as fifty leading national and multinational companies set up their stalls at the Career Fair organized by the International Cooperation, Placement and Alumni Department of the Institute of Business Management (IoBM). It was held on Thursday, January 23, 2020. The Career Fair was attended by hundreds of IoBM students enrolled in various degree programs. IoBM’s Mr. Talib Karim, President; Bashir Janmohammad, Chancellor along with HoDs, faculty and students attended this event.

Career Fair 2020 was especially beneficial for the final year students who are contemplating their career prospects. IoBM has been actively organizing such career fairs to bridge the gap between academia and industry. During the event, students filled forms to avail job and internship opportunities at the invited companies. The students also learned about their career road map. They networked with the human resource representatives of the companies to gain insights regarding the industry trends and job market with respect to their degree programs and specialization. Among the notable companies invited at this fair were Adamjee Life Assurance, Bank Al Habib, Beaconhouse School System, Dalda, HBL, Aga Khan University, Sanofi-Aventis to name a few.
